2001 Preserve Lumber Company ACQ Treated Wood Award Winner

In 2001, Preserve Lumber Company held a $10,000 National Contest for best deck design. The Deck & Door Company was awarded two of five of these prizes for its design work and commitment to using only arsenic-free building materials.

The Deck & Door Company began using ACQ treated lumber in 2000 after the company’s president was diagnosed with the cancer associated with CCA Arsenic Treated Materials. The Deck & Door Company continues to practice in the forefront of health and safety issues related to the construction industry.

The Deck & Door Company Featured in Industry Magazines

The Deck & Door Company has been featured in several industry magazines, including two issues of The Family Handyman magazine (May, 2004 and July/August 2004). In these issues we illustrate the deck building techniques we have developed over many years and hundreds of decks. Applied professionally, we have the know-how and experience the industry respects.

We were also featured in the July/August 2005 Professional Deck Builder Magazine.

The 3rd edition of one of Sunset’s most popular titles includes everything homeowners need to know about the latest materials, tools, and techniques to build, or plan, a deck. Our writer shadowed some of the country’s best builders. The result? The Complete Deck Book now features better and simpler building techniques, more information on materials and tools, and more detail on framing and stair construction. Includes step-by-step instructions, with hundreds of detailed photos and illustrations.

HGTV Extreme Home Makeover

The Deck & Door Company has been a part of HGTV’s Extreme Home Makeover in Atlanta, Georgia this year. We spent 1 week volunteering our time to build this deck.  We were able to take part in all of the activities, including the moving of the bus and the arrival of the new family. The show is set to air in June where you can see our completed project.
