Construction Process

Let our experienced carpenters construct your deck

The Deck & Door Company is very passionate in what we do and therefore makes sure our carpenters have the skills and experience in building decks. We offer deck re-surfacing, frame only or complete deck construction.

There are a number of steps we go through before your deck is completed. We want to make sure what we build is done quick but efficiently. Listed below is a step by step process of what goes into the building some of the top decks in the Twin Cities.

Step 1. Complete Contract

Our expert and friendly staff will sit down with you and develop a plan for your deck project including; materials list, drawing layout, contract, delivery date and completion date. We will help you by sketching out your ideas and price it for you and then build an AutoCAD drawing of what your deck is going to look like.

Step 2. Obtain Permit

Next, we give you a start date and estimated time of completion on the project. The drawings are sent in for approval and after obtaining the permit the order is built. The materials are kept within our own warehouse or special ordered.

Step 3. Deliver Lumber to Your House

Once the order has been completed and fully built to ship, it is then delivered to your house by our delivery truck. We will set the lumber on the side of your driveway or sometimes in the backyard for convenience of the crews.  We also offer a service if you had an existing deck that is being replaced, we will tear it down and dispose of the material ourselves.

Step 4. Dig Footings with Bobcat

Upon delivery of the materials, the footings are drilled using our Bobcat and auger. They then must be inspected and once that is complete, concrete is put in them and deck construction can begin.

Step 5. Construction

Weather permitting, construction starts on your deck. We will assign a carpenter crew to your project and they begin. Our crews typically work from 7:00am to 4:00pm and typically work threw most weather conditions and all year round.

Step 6. Final Inspection and Completion

Upon the completion of your deck we will schedule a final inspection with the city building department. Once the project is complete, we will send our workers to remove any extra lumber, scraps and debris from your home.
